Bring on the hydration and shine....Here at The Hair Affaire, we love (and use daily) the entire EquiFuse product line. Each product has it's own wonderful set of benefits, which is why they hold a place of honor in all our grooming totes. We would like to take an in-depth look at each of the EquiFuse products over the next few weeks and what better place to start then with the multi purpose, never leave home without, Rehydrinse. There are so many ways you can use this product and we are constantly finding more uses all the time. Not only do we keep a bottle in each of our tack rooms but there are extra bottles in our show totes, horse trailers, the back seat of our trucks and even a bottle in our showers ( for me and my dogs too)! We love this product because it WORKS! Everytime we use it, we know the results we will get. For those of you that are not familiar with Rehydrinse, here is a quick description.
There are so many ways to utilize this product in your grooming and bathing routine that we would be here all day if I tried to list them all, so I'm just going to touch on the top 6 applications that we use regularly.
For use after bathing- * After the horse has been rinsed but the coat is still damp put 1oz of Rehydrinse in a 32oz spray bottle then fill the rest of the way with water. Shake before each use to make sure the product is properly mixed. Spray over the entire body (including feather for draft type breeds) and DO NOT RINSE OFF. * You can also use this product as directed on the bottle by adding 1oz to a gallon of water in a bucket and then sponging over the body. You can then go over the horse with a sweat scraper to remove excess moisture but again, DO NOT RINSE. This product is safe for use in the saddle area as it will not make the hair slick or slippery. For use on dry hair- * Before braiding: Add 1oz of Rehydrinse to a 32oz spray bottle then fill with water. Apply to the mane and/or tail from roots to tips until slightly damp, run a brush through the hair to distribute and then braid as normal. When the braids are removed the hair will still be smooth and hydrated and very easy to finger comb and re-braid. *Show prep: Add 1oz of Rehydrinse to a 32oz spray bottle then fill with water. Spray onto a rag and wipe over the entire body to remove dust and add additional shine. Most “shine sprays” on the market contain oil so they will attract dust to the hair as soon as you step into the ring. Rehydrinse does not attract dust and other debris so your horses will stay shiny and dust free throughout the class. *Removing tangles and wind knots: Add 1oz of Rehydrinse to a 32oz spray bottle then fill with water. Apply to tangles in mane and/or tail, be sure to soak the tangle all the way through to the center. Then apply some EquiFuse Gleam, making sure to work the Gleam into the tangle or wind knot and allow to sit for a few minutes. Untangle the hair by hand then then work a brush through the hair. *Deep conditioning for dry/damaged tails: Add 1oz of Rehydrinse and 1/2oz of Gleam to bucket with 1 gallon of warm water and soak the entire tail for 3-5 minutes.( if the tail is extremely dirty it is recommended that you swish the tail in a bucket of warm water first to help loosen the mud and/or dirt) Wring the excess water from the tail but DO NOT RINSE. You can towel dry if necessary in cold climates. Repeat this process as often as necessary to restore your horse’s tail to its ideal, soft, tangle-free state. This treatment is also perfect for tails that are kept braided. After removing the braid use this treatment, then comb through the hair and re-braid.
